Q. What are the eligibility criteria to participate in Designathon?
To enter the competition, you must be a student studying design at any stage
of
your university career, from undergraduate to postgraduate studies.
Participation is possible only as a team of 2 to 4 members. Team members can be from
multiple disciplines, institutions, or even various countries or continents. You can't
be a
member of more than one team.

Q. I am an overseas student. Am I eligible for this competition?
Yes, you are eligible. There are no restrictions on which nationalities can enter if you are a student of design.
Q. I am from a non-design background but would like to participate, can I?
No. Unfortunately, this competition is open to design students only.
Q. I am a recent graduate and currently not working anywhere. Can I still participate?
Unfortunately, you can't participate. This competition is solely for design students.
Q. How can we register?

Q. Do we need to pay to participate?
No. Participation to the Designathon is free.
Q. Do I need to register separately for the conference?
Yes, you need to register separately for Design Inspire Conference. Know more about the Conference registration details here
Q. Can I participate as a member of multiple teams?
No, you can only participate in one team.
Q. How many people can be part of the team?
Min 2 and max 4 members in each team.
Q. Will we be allowed to form our own teams?
Yes, participants are free to choose their teammates.
Q. Do all team members have to be in one place during Designathon?
No, it's not necessary. You can either coordinate remotely or can work together from one location taking all the required precautions in concern. We advise you to stay safe!
Q. Can I make changes to my team post registration? (remove/replace/ add team members)
We request you to take some time and then register for the Designathon. We discourage making changes to your team post-registration. However, in case of unforeseen circumstances, you can email your requests to us at designathon@valuelabs.com. The organizing team will consider the requests on case-to-case basis and make a decision that will be final. You cannot make any changes to your team once the Designathon starts.
Q. When and where will the Designathon be conducted?
Designathon is a 24-hour online Design hackathon scheduled from 12PM IST on 30 Oct 2021 to 12 PM IST on 31 Oct 2021.
Q. What are the advantages of taking part in the Designathon?
There are multiple advantages of participating, some of which are listed below.
Q. When and how do we get the Design brief/Topic?
The design brief will be shared with the teams on the Slack group at the onset of the Designathon on 30 Oct 2021. Each year the brief is in line with the Conference theme of that year. This year our theme is Regenerate and Evolve.

Q. Can we upload the work done for Designathon online?
Yes, you can but only post the announcement of Designathon winners during Design Inspire Conference scheduled on 20 Nov 2021.
Q. What are the mini challenges?
Mini challenges would be short tasks that would be announced during the Designathon and will have to be completed within the specified time limit. Participation in the mini challenges is not mandatory and will not affect the final evaluation in any way. However, we encourage the teams to participate as there will be prizes.
Q. How can we prepare for the designathon?
Please go through the detailed guidelines mentioned in the rules and regulations document. We will also be hosting an orientation session for the registered teams, a few days prior to the Designathon.
Q. What is the format in which we need to submit our design task?
The teams are required to document their process and activities of the 24hrs on an online blog (preferably Tumblr). Each team is expected to submit the below mentioned details at the end of the challenge in order to qualify for the next rounds. Make sure you don’t miss any important information

Q. Are we expected to send the design task at the end of the Designathon?
Yes, you are required to submit the design task by the end of the Designathon, else your team will be disqualified. We recommend that you start uploading your work at least an hour before the end of the Designathon. NO further extension will be provided post 24th hour for submission, we suggest you plan your submissions accordingly.
Q. Will we have the rights of our work or will ValueLabs own it?
The respective teams will have all the rights to their work. By participating, you will be giving your consent to the organizing team for using parts/whole of the project for promotional purposes. The teams will be given due credit for the same.
Q. Do we have any prize money for the Designathon winner team?
There are multiple prizes and awards to be won by Designathon participants as listed below:
Note - In case of any disputes, the jury members' decision will be final and binding.
Q. How will the money be transferred into our account if we win?
The organizing team will reach out to the winners for the required details for processing the payment. The processing of the prize money will take up to 60 working days from the date of announcement. The winning amount will be transferred to a single account as shared by each of the winning teams.
Q. How can we get in touch with the organizing team for support?
Q. If we face internet problems, can we have an extension for submission? Or will you provide us an internet connection?
No, you won't have any extension for the submissions. We suggest you check your internet connections and have the files shared among all team members so they can step-up in such scenarios. The organizing team will not be responsible for providing any internet support during the Designathon.
